Personal Ranger™ “Pace of Play” System Knocking 30 Minutes Off of Golf Rounds Throughout U.S.

With More Than 25 Courses Already Using Personal Ranger, Chicago-Based On-Course Technologies Is Planning As Many As 50 More Installations At Courses Nationwide

CHICAGO, IL, April 1, 2001 … In less than a year since debuting its Personal Ranger™ Pace-of-Play System, On-Course Technologies, Inc. has built a successful program that addresses the issue of slow play on America’s golf courses. To date, over 25 golf facilities in 12 states have installed the Personal Ranger system and pace-of-play has dramatically increased, in some cases up to 30-minutes. With its success to date, On-Course Technologies is assuming the leadership role in reducing slow play and the associated operational headaches, while improving the golfing experience at facilities throughout the U.S.

Designed to be the cornerstone of an effective pace of play policy at any type of golf facility, On-Course Technologies’ Personal Ranger is a patented electronic device that is small enough to fit on a golf cart steering wheel or clip on a golf bag. Personal Ranger features an LCD screen that displays the golfer’s elapsed time and where he or she should be on the course at all times based on the course’s customized pace of play goals.

“On-Course Technologies is committed educating golf courses nationwide on the value of Personal Ranger as a tool designed to reduce and eventually eliminate slow play,” said Scott Grundberg, co-founder and President of On-Course Technologies. “With the acceptance the Personal Ranger at some of the best facilities in the US, in just a short time, we have taken an average of 15-20 minutes off most golf rounds, and in some cases as many as 30 minutes.” - continued - He adds, “15-20 minutes off each round of golf translates into the potential for significant revenue generation for courses by adding additional tee times on a daily basis. However, our customers have indicated the greatest value of the system is in building customer loyalty and free word-of-mouth marketing through a better golfing experience.”

Course marshals now have an objective basis for communicating with golfers about pace, as Personal Ranger has made the marshals’ jobs easier and their efforts more effective. Most importantly, feedback has shown that golfers are more satisfied knowing that a club is actively attempting to manage the pace-of-play and that they simply enjoy knowing where they are on the golf course relative to the course’s pace goal.

Personal Ranger continuously provides a golfer with information detailing his/her elapsed round time and expected location on a course. For a fraction of the cost of other technology solutions attempting to impact the pace-of-play, the Personal Ranger simply arms the golfer with the information that allows them to succeed in managing their own pace.

After a successful season of beta testing in 1999, Personal Ranger became officially available early in 2000. Today, Personal Ranger is helping to manage the pace-of-play at more than 25 courses across the country and response has been tremendous. Based on current sales activity, the Company’s goal is to double its market presence by the middle of the second quarter.
